Halloween Candy and Cavities: Understanding the Link & Prevention
While eating too much candy on Halloween or any other day can certainly lead to cavities, Halloween itself does not directly cause cavities. Cavities are formed when dental plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that forms on your teeth, reacts with the natural sugars in candy and produces acids. These acids erode tooth enamel over time, creating cavities. To avoid cavities, it is advisable to practice good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing your teeth regularly, limiting sugary food and drink consumption, and visiting the dentist for regular checkups and cleanings.Cavities - Related Articles
