How to Avoid IVF
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a process where a woman's egg is fertilized with a man's sperm outside the woman's body. Once the fertilization process is complete, the egg is inserted inside the woman's uterus. IVF is performed if a couple is struggling to or cannot conceive naturally. Though IVF may not be completely avoidable, there are steps that you and your partner can take to improve your sexual health and your chances of natural conception.
Instructions
Take vitamins and supplements that improve your chances of getting pregnant. Calcium increases the alkaline levels in your body, which improves the atmosphere for a fertilized egg and sperm. Zinc can increase a man's sperm count as well as keep his testicles healthy and build healthy sperm. Vitamin C increases the hormone levels that improve fertility in women.
Have sex during your ovulation period. Ovulation is when a woman releases an egg and it travels down the fallopian tubes in a prime position for it to be fertilized by sperm. Over-the-counter tests, as well as the texture of your cervical mucus -- it is clear and very elastic -- can detect that ovulation is occurring.
Increase your sperm health if you are a man. Take a multivitamin, keep your stress level low, maintain a healthy weight and eat vegetables and fruits. Doing all of these things can increase your sperm production and health, therefore increasing the chance of natural fertilization and avoiding IVF.
