Tampons and Discharge: What's the Best Choice?
It's generally not advisable to wear tampons when you have discharge but are not on your period. While discharge (cervical mucus) is a regular part of the menstrual cycle, it does not provide the same level of absorption as menstrual blood. Wearing a tampon when not necessary can disrupt the vagina's natural balance and increase the risk of infection.
During non-menstrual days, it is best to opt for panty liners or menstrual cups that are designed for light discharge rather than using tampons. These alternatives minimize the introduction of foreign objects into the vagina, keeping its pH balance intact and reducing the chances of introducing bacteria.
Consult your healthcare provider, gynecologist, or other qualified healthcare professionals if you have further questions or concerns about whether to use tampons during discharge.
