How Do I Know If Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?
Possible symptoms of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)* Lower abdominal pain, often sharp and cramplike
* Persistent heavy vaginal bleeding
* Persistent vaginal discharge
* Pelvic pain during intercourse
* High fever
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Frequent urination
* Painful urination
* Rectal pain, especially during sex
* Bleeding when not menstrual
* Fatigue
* Weakness
* Diarrhea
* Pain when moving the cervix during a pelvic exam (especially when pushed from side to side)
* Swollen fallopian tubes or ovaries that are tender to the touch when pressing the abdomen during a pelvic exam
* Abnormal cervical, vaginal, or endometrial fluid
Sometimes PID doesn't produce any symptoms or symptoms so mild you are unaware of a problem. PID also might start with mild signs/symptoms, and they quickly worsen in a few days
