RhoGAM: Protecting Your Baby from Rh Disease During Pregnancy
RhoGAM
RhoGAM is a medication used to prevent Rh disease in pregnant women. Rh disease is a condition in which the mother's immune system attacks the baby's red blood cells. This can cause serious anemia and other health problems in the baby.
RhoGAM is given as an injection into a pregnant woman's muscle. It is usually given at 28 weeks of pregnancy and again at 34 weeks of pregnancy. If a woman is Rh-negative and has had a miscarriage, abortion, or ectopic pregnancy, she may also need to receive RhoGAM.
RhoGAM is a very effective medication in preventing Rh disease. It is safe for both the mother and the baby.
