Short Period & Negative Pregnancy Test: What Could It Mean?
It is highly unlikely to be pregnant if your period lasted only 3 days and all pregnancy tests are negative.
A typical menstrual cycle lasts between 21 and 35 days. During ovulation, an egg is released from one of the ovaries. If the egg is not fertilized, it will be shed along with the lining of the uterus during menstruation.
It's possible for women to have short periods and still be pregnant. However, pregnancy tests are usually quite accurate at detecting pregnancy, especially if taken after a missed period. If you're still concerned about pregnancy, you should see your doctor or midwife to rule out any other potential causes for your symptoms.
While implantation bleeding can be shorter than a regular period, here may be other reasons besides pregnancy for that such as:
• Birth control pills or other hormonal therapy
• Stress
• Weight loss or gain
• Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
• Endometriosis
• Uterine fibroids
