Early Pregnancy Detection: When Can Home Tests Be Accurate?
Most pregnancy tests are designed to detect the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone in the urine. This hormone is produced by the placenta and its levels rise rapidly during pregnancy. The earliest a home pregnancy test can usually detect pregnancy is 6 days before your missed period. However, some tests claim to be able to detect pregnancy up to 5 days before your period is due.
It's important to remember that even the most sensitive home pregnancy tests are not 100% accurate. If you receive a negative result, but still suspect that you may be pregnant, it is recommended that you repeat the test in a few days or consult your healthcare provider.
