Pregnancy Test at 15 DPO: Accuracy & hCG Levels Explained
It is unlikely that a pregnancy test taken 15 days past ovulation (DPO) will produce an accurate result, primarily due to the hormone levels at this stage. The human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormone, which is produced during pregnancy, typically reaches detectable levels in the urine about 10 to 12 days after fertilization. While some pregnancy tests claim to be sensitive enough to detect hCG as early as 10 DPO, the chances of obtaining a reliable result at 15 DPO are still relatively low.
It is generally advisable to wait until at least 14 DPO or, better yet, the expected day of your missed period, to take a pregnancy test for the most accurate results. This allows sufficient time for hCG levels to rise to detectable concentrations in most individuals. If you take the test too early, before the hCG levels are high enough, you may receive a false negative result, even though you might actually be pregnant.
