Can avelox be used for tooth aches?
Avelox is not indicated for toothaches and should not be used for this purpose.
Avelox (moxifloxacin) is an antibiotic medication used to treat bacterial infections such as bacterial pneumonia, bronchitis, and infections of the skin, urinary tract, prostate gland, and sinuses. It is typically not effective against tooth infections, which are often caused by different types of bacteria. In many cases, tooth pain or toothaches require evaluation and treatment by a dentist. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen may be recommended to manage pain associated with toothaches. Antibiotics are only indicated in cases where a tooth infection is present, and the specific antibiotic prescribed would depend on the underlying cause of the infection.
