Denture Cloning: Replicating Your Removable Denture
Denture cloning, also known as denture duplication or denture copying, is a technique used in dentistry to create an exact replica of an existing removable dental prosthesis (denture). It involves making an impression of the original denture and using this impression to create a new denture base, which is then fitted with new teeth and denture components.
The process of denture cloning is often used:
- When the original denture is damaged or broken.
- When a patient wants a new denture that looks exactly like their existing one.
- When a patient needs a new denture but cannot afford to have a new one custom-made from scratch.
Denture cloning is a cost-effective and convenient option for patients who need to replace their dentures, as it eliminates the need for extensive dental procedures and laboratory work. However, it should be noted that denture cloning is not always possible and may not be suitable for all cases.
