Oral Care After Stitches & Tooth Extractions: A Doctor-Approved Guide
You should wait at least 24 hours after having stitches placed before brushing your teeth. This will give the stitches time to heal and avoid any unnecessary irritation.
When you do brush your teeth, be sure to use a soft-bristled toothbrush and avoid brushing directly on the stitches. You should also rinse your mouth with warm salt water after brushing to help keep the area clean and free of infection.
If you have any questions about how to care for your stitches, be sure to ask your doctor or dentist.
