Splenorenal Shunting: Understanding Causes, Symptoms & Treatment
Splenorenal shunting is the abnormal movement of blood from the spleen into the renal vein, bypassing the liver. The liver is responsible for detoxifying and regulating the blood before it enters the rest of the body, and this process is impaired when blood is shunted directly to the kidneys.
