AB Blood & O Blood Offspring: Probability of Blood Types
According to the inheritance pattern of ABO blood groups, when a woman with type AB blood (genotype IAIB) has children with a man who has type O blood (genotype ii), the possible blood types of their children can be determined as follows:
The woman (IAIB) can produce gametes with alleles IA and IB.
The man (ii) can only produce gametes with allele i.
Possible offspring genotypes:
IAi (A blood type)
IBi (B blood type)
Since both IA and IB alleles are dominant over i, none of the children will have type O blood. Therefore, we cannot expect any children with type O blood in this scenario.
