Plasma Antigens in Type O Blood: Understanding Anti-A & Anti-B Antibodies
In the ABO blood group system, plasma contains antibodies against antigens that are not present on the red blood cells. An individual with type O blood has neither A nor B antigens on their red blood cells. Hence, their plasma carries anti-A and anti-B antibodies to neutralize A and B antigens from other blood types if encountered. Individuals with type O blood possess antibodies A and B in their plasma.
