Understanding Abdominal Noises During Exercise: Causes & When to Worry
When you jump around or engage in vigorous exercise, the contents of your abdomen, including your intestines, can jostle and move around, causing the production of gas and other digestive sounds. This is completely normal and is not a cause for concern unless accompanied by other symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, or a change in bowel movements.
When you jump or engage in vigorous exercise, your body requires more oxygen, and blood flow is redirected to the muscles and organs that need it most. This can reduce blood flow to the digestive system, which can lead to changes in the motility (the movement) of the intestines and increased production of gas. The movement and jostling of the intestines also contribute to the production of these sounds.
