Epigastric Region: Definition, Location & Anatomy
The medical term for the region upon the stomach is the epigastric region. The epigastric region is the area of the abdomen located between the lower rib cage and the navel. It is bounded superiorly by the xiphoid process of the sternum, inferiorly by the umbilicus, and laterally by the costal margins.
