CGD Defect: Understanding NADPH Oxidase Deficiency and its Impact
The CGD defect results in a deficiency in the production or function of NADPH oxidase, which is an enzyme complex responsible for generating reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS are essential for the microbicidal activity of phagocytes, such as neutrophils and macrophages. In individuals with CGD, the lack of sufficient ROS production impairs the ability of phagocytes to kill invading microorganisms, resulting in recurrent and severe infections.Hodgkin Lymphoma - Related Articles
