Kaltenborn Wedge: Uses & Applications in Manual Therapy
Kaltenborn wedge:
- This wedge is triangular-shaped and comes in a variety of sizes.
- It can be used to elevate tissue under the therapist’s hand to isolate deeper structures (e.g. a patient’s head resting on a wedge to free the neck).
- It can also be used to apply pressure along a line (in the direction of the point) to create tissue separation at a specific depth within the tissue.
- The pressure is increased by increasing the weight the therapist puts into their hand.
