Understanding Post-Ovulation Bleeding: Is It Implantation or Your Period?
Ovulation spotting. Some people spot a little bit of blood when they ovulate. This usually happens 10 to 14 days before your period is due. Ovulation spotting is usually light and only lasts for a day or two.
Implantation bleeding. This happens when the fertilized egg implants in the lining of your uterus. Implantation bleeding usually happens 6 to 12 days after ovulation. It's usually light and only lasts for a day or two.
Your period. Your period is the shedding of the lining of your uterus. It usually happens every 28 days, but it can vary from person to person. Periods can be light or heavy, and they can last for 2 to 7 days.
If you're not sure whether you're experiencing implantation bleeding or your period, you can take a pregnancy test. If you're pregnant, the test will be positive. If you're not pregnant, the test will be negative.
Here are some other signs and symptoms of early pregnancy:
* Breast tenderness
