When to Take a Pregnancy Test After Implantation Bleeding: Accuracy & Timing

Implantation bleeding occurs when a fertilized egg implants into the lining of the uterus. This typically happens 10 to 14 days after ovulation. However, implantation bleeding can also occur earlier or later than this, and some women do not experience implantation bleeding at all.

A home pregnancy test (HPT) can be taken as early as 14 days after ovulation. However, the accuracy of HPTs is higher when they are taken closer to the expected period. If you take an HPT too early, you may get a false negative result.

If you think you may be experiencing implantation bleeding, you can wait a few days and then take an HPT. If you get a positive result, it is important to see your doctor for a confirmation.
