CPR: When and When Not to Cover a Victim with a Blanket
Do not place a blanket over the victim, except in these circumstances:- After effective defibrillation. It may help to prevent shivering, which can contribute to ventricular fibrillation. Covering a person with a blanket prior to defibrillation may cause sweating and electrolyte imbalance, which can interfere with the defibrillation process.
- In cold environments, after ROSC has been confirmed. Otherwise, do not cover the victim except for external genitalia.
