Brontophobia: Fear of thunder or storms
Brontophobia (also known as astraphobia, ceraunophobia and keraunophobia) is a specific phobia. The term originated via Latin from Ancient Greek bronte meaning "thunder". Individuals affected by brontophobia may exhibit excessive, irrational fear, anxiety, or stress and attempt to avoid thunderstorms altogether.[1] Brontophobia most commonly presents itself in early childhood, typically developing before 10 years of age in 87.5% of sufferers.[2] The fear usually lessens by adulthood. There appears to be no significant difference in prevalence among male and female sufferers
