What does VPT mean in medicine?
VPT stands for Venous Pressure Test. It is a medical procedure used to measure the pressure in a person's veins. It is typically done to assess for venous insufficiency, which is a condition in which the veins do not properly return blood to the heart.
The VPT is performed by placing a blood pressure cuff around a person's calf and inflating it until the veins collapse. The pressure at which the veins collapse is then measured. A VPT is usually performed in conjunction with other tests, such as an ankle-brachial index (ABI) test, to evaluate venous insufficiency.
