PPP PAP Authentication: Issues with One-Way Configuration

If PPP PAP authentication is only configured on one end of a serial link, the link will not come up. PPP requires mutual authentication, meaning that both ends of the link must authenticate each other before the link can be established. If only one end of the link is configured for authentication, the other end will not be able to authenticate itself, and the link will fail.
