How do people become pregnant?

Pregnancy occurs when a sperm fertilizes an egg. The process begins with the release of an egg from one of the woman's ovaries. This usually happens once a month during ovulation. The egg travels down the fallopian tube towards the uterus.

If a man ejaculates inside the woman's vagina during sex, the sperm will travel through the cervix and into the fallopian tube.
