6-Week Ultrasound: What to Expect & What Your Baby Looks Like
At 6 weeks, your baby is still very small, measuring only about 5mm in length. This is about the size of a grain of rice!
On an ultrasound scan, they look like a tiny tadpole with a large head and a curved body.
The baby's head will show signs of the developing brain starting to divide into two hemispheres
You may hear the heartbeat which sounds very fast because it might exceed 130 beats per minute
The neural tube should be closed to allow the development of the baby's spinal cord without abnormalities that lead to the birth of the baby with birth defects
