Negative Pregnancy Tests, But Still Suspect? When to Get a Blood Test
It is recommended to wait at least a week after a missed period before taking a pregnancy test for the most accurate results. If your home pregnancy tests are negative, it is possible that you are not pregnant. However, it is also possible that the tests were taken too early or that the levels of hCG (the hormone that is detected by pregnancy tests) in your urine were too low to be detected.
If you are concerned that you may be pregnant, it is best to get a blood test done to confirm. A blood test can detect lower levels of hCG than a urine test, so it is more accurate in the early stages of pregnancy.
If your blood test is negative, it is likely that you are not pregnant. However, if your blood test is positive, you will need to follow up with your doctor for further care.
Some other signs and symptoms of pregnancy include:
* Nausea and vomiting
* Breast tenderness
* Increased urination
* Bloating
* Fatigue
* Mood swings
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is best to see your doctor for evaluation.
