Late Period: Causes & What to Expect (Not Always Pregnancy)
Not necessarily. There are many reasons why a period may be late, and not all of them are related to pregnancy. Some common reasons for a late period include:
- Stress: Stress can affect the menstrual cycle, causing a period to be late or even missed altogether.
- Diet and exercise: Sudden changes in diet or exercise can also affect the menstrual cycle.
- Medications: Some medications, such as birth control pills, can also cause a late period.
- Underlying medical conditions: Some medical conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can also cause irregular periods.
If your period is more than 7 days late, it's a good idea to take a pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. If the test is negative, you should see a doctor to rule out any other underlying medical conditions.
