Subserosal Fibroids & Fertility: Impact on Pregnancy
Fibroids, also known as uterine fibroids or leiomyomas, are non-cancerous growths of the uterus. They develop from the smooth muscle cells of the uterus and can vary in size, number, and location.
While fibroids are usually found within the uterine cavity or the muscle wall of the uterus, they can also grow on the outside of the uterus. Fibroids that are located on the outside of the uterus are known as subserosal fibroids.
The presence of subserosal fibroids does not directly affect the ability to get pregnant. However, if the subserosal fibroids are located near the fallopian tubes or ovaries, they may cause some anatomical changes or blockages that could make it more challenging for fertilization to occur.
In general, the impact of fibroids on fertility depends on several factors, including the size, number, and location of the fibroids. Some women with subserosal fibroids may have no difficulties conceiving, while others may experience challenges.
If you are concerned about the potential impact of subserosal fibroids on your fertility, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider, such as a gynecologist or reproductive endocrinologist, for a personalized evaluation and appropriate guidance.
