Alexander Graham Bell died of diabetes complications on August 2, 1922, at his home, Beinn Breagh, Bras d’Or Lake, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was 75.
*Bell had been diagnosed with diabetes in 1880 and had been managing his condition with insulin therapy since 1913.* He had been in relatively good health until the summer of 1922, when he contracted a cold while sailing on his yacht, Mary. The cold developed into pneumonia, and he died shortly thereafter.
Bell was buried at the Baddeck Cemetery in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada. His grave is marked by a simple granite headstone that bears the following inscription:
