Correct Head Position During Infant Resuscitation: A Step-by-Step Guide
To position a baby's head during resuscitation:
1. Gently place the baby on their back on a firm surface. Do not use soft surfaces like beds or pillows, as these can interfere with chest compressions.
2. Tilt the baby's head back slightly to open the airway. This can be done by placing one hand on the baby's forehead and the other hand on the back of the baby's head and gently tilting the head back.
3. Lift the baby's chin to further open the airway. Ensure not hyper-extend the infant's neck. Ensure they are “sniffing.”
