How to Track Baby Growth
Tracking your baby's growth is easy and fun. If you are unable to use the traditional marker-on-the-wall method, there are plenty of alternative ways to keep a record of your child's growth and development.Things You'll Need
- Piece of fabric or wood, approximately 4 feet tall by 4 feet wide
- Fabric marker
- Ruler
- Glue
- String
- Colored markers or other decorative supplies (optional)
Instructions
Make Your Baby a Growth Chart (Ages Newborn-2)
Lay the fabric or wood on the ground, spread out entirely.
Measure two feet on the bottom width, and use a ruler to draw a straight line across the bottom.
Use the ruler to make a three-foot line on the height of the fabric or paper, forming an "L" shape with the line you just made for the width.
Label the width. Set aside two feet per year, and make a four-inch vertical line to designate "Newborn" (at the very beginning of the line), "Age One" (two feet into the line), and "Age Two" (at the end of the line).
Continue labeling the width. Every two inches, make a two-inch line for every month in the year. You should have 11 lines between "Newborn" and "Age One" and 11 lines from "Age One" to "Age Two."
Label the height with inches and feet.
Start tracking! Once a month, lay baby down on the fabric or wood with his or her feet at the base and mark accordingly.
