Vitamin E and Skin Crystals: What You Need to Know
Vitamin E is not associated with crystal formation on the skin, but individuals who are suspected of having allergies or who are sensitive to vitamin E should avoid using skin treatments that contain the vitamin, according to the Mayo Clinic.-
Use
-
Vitamin E is known for its antioxidant properties and has been thought to reduce scarring on skin caused by cuts and acne when applied directly. Vitamin C is known to leave crystals on the skin after application, not vitamin E.
Side Effects
-
Skin reactions known as dermatitis and eczema have been reported after using vitamin E skin ointment and cream treatments, but crystals on skin are not associated with the vitamin.
Dietary Sources
-
If you are not comfortable with direct skin application, consume foods that have vitamin E. Some foods with vitamin E include eggs, fruit, green leafy vegetables, olive oil and whole grains.
