Where did the word munchies come from?
The word "munchies" is thought to have originated in the 1930s in the United States. It was first used in New York City to describe the late-night snacking of the city's jazz musicians, who would often get the urge to eat after smoking marijuana.
The world eventually spread beyond the jazz community and was used to describe any late-night snacking. It is now a common term used by people of all ages and backgrounds.
