Can peroxide take infection out of a tongue piercing?

Peroxide should not be used to clean a tongue piercing. Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidising agent that can damage the cells of the tongue and delay the healing process. It can also cause irritation and pain. Instead, it is recommended to use a mild saline solution to clean the piercing.
