Understanding Premolars: The Teeth Between Canines and Molars

The teeth next to the canine teeth are called the premolars. There are two premolars on each side of the upper and lower jaws, for a total of eight premolars. Premolars are used for chewing and grinding food. They have a larger surface area than canine teeth, which makes them better suited for this task.
