Battery-Operated Toothbrush Guide: Tips & Benefits for Oral Health
Healthy gums and teeth are essential to overall health, according to the American Dental Association. Neglecting oral hygiene can lead to problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer and even heart disease. Brushing with a battery-operated toothbrush can prevent such dental health problems and remove plaque.
Instructions
Check the batteries to make sure they work. Most battery-operated toothbrushes use AA batteries, and each brand has directions for removing and replacing batteries in its product care manual.
Squeeze toothpaste on the battery-powered brush. Wait until the toothbrush is in your mouth to turn it on to prevent the rotating brush heads from spraying toothpaste.
Place the brush head at a 45-degree angle to your teeth and gums. Brush back and forth with short strokes. Brush the inner, outer and chewing surfaces of the teeth. Clean the inside surfaces of the teeth with the tip of the brush, using up and down strokes. Brush teeth for two minutes.
Brush the tongue to remove bacteria and freshen breath.
