Blood Sugar & Tooth Extraction: Safe Levels & Considerations
There is no set maximum safe blood glucose level for performing a tooth extraction, as the risk of complications depends on a variety of factors, such as the overall health of the patient and the type of extraction being performed. However, the American Dental Association (ADA) generally recommends that elective dental procedures be postponed in patients with uncontrolled diabetes (blood glucose levels greater than 200 mg/dL) or those with a history of diabetic complications. In these patients, the risk of infection, poor wound healing, and other complications is increased, making tooth extraction more challenging and potentially more dangerous.Teeth Cleaning - Related Articles
