Should Your 12-Year-Old Molars Be Removed? | Dental Health Guide
In most cases, twelve-year molars do not need to be pulled. They are called twelve-year molars because they usually come in around age twelve, and in most cases are permanent. However, there are some cases in which extraction of twelve-year molars may be necessary.
1) If the tooth is severely decayed and cannot be restored.
2) If the tooth is impacted (stuck underneath the gum) or malformed.
3) If the tooth is causing overcrowding in the mouth.
If you are concerned about the health of your twelve-year-old's molars, it is important to see a dentist for evaluation to determine the best course of action.
