Can your doctor tell if you have gotten period?
A doctor cannot definitively tell if a person has gotten their period based solely on a physical examination. While some signs and symptoms may indicate the start of a menstrual period, such as abdominal cramps, breast tenderness, and mood changes, these symptoms can also be associated with other conditions. Additionally, the timing and intensity of these symptoms can vary greatly among individuals.
If a doctor suspects that a person may have started their period, they may ask questions about the person's menstrual history, including the date of their last period, the regularity of their periods, and any unusual symptoms they may be experiencing. They may also order laboratory tests, such as a pregnancy test or a hormone panel, to rule out other possible causes for the symptoms.
In some cases, a doctor may recommend imaging tests, such as an ultrasound, to evaluate the reproductive organs and check for any abnormalities that could be affecting menstrual cycles.
