Tampons After Mirena Insertion: What You Need to Know
It is generally recommended to wait at least 24 hours after Mirena insertion before using tampons. This allows time for the insertion site to heal and reduce the risk of infection or other complications.
During this 24-hour period, it is recommended to use alternative methods of menstrual hygiene, such as sanitary pads or menstrual cups. It is also important to avoid strenuous activities, swimming, and sexual intercourse during this time.
After 24 hours, you can resume using tampons as usual, but it is still important to be gentle and avoid inserting the tampon too deeply. If you experience any pain, discomfort, or unusual symptoms after using a tampon, consult your healthcare provider.
