Understanding Alveolar Elasticity and Respiratory Issues

Inability of alveoli to contract is due to loss of elasticity. This can be caused by several factors, including aging, smoking, and certain medical conditions. When the alveoli lose their elasticity, they are no longer able to recoil and expel air, leading to shortness of breath and other respiratory problems.
