Understanding Your Permanent Teeth: What Are Second Molars?
The inner teeth are not necessarily baby teeth, they are called the second molars, and they can erupt at different ages.
- The first set of teeth are deciduous, commonly called baby teeth. There are 20 of them: 10 on the upper jaw and 10 on the lower one. They start erupting around the age of 6 months and the process is complete by age 3.
- The second set of teeth comes between the ages of 6 and 21 and are called permanent teeth. There are 32 permanent teeth in total, that replace the baby teeth.
