Human Teeth Anatomy: Types, Count & Wisdom Teeth
Humans typically have 32 permanent teeth. These include:
- 8 incisors (4 upper, 4 lower)
- 4 canines (2 upper, 2 lower)
- 8 premolars (4 upper, 4 lower)
- 12 molars (6 upper, 6 lower)
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are not included in this count as they are not present in everyone. Some people may have impacted wisdom teeth, which means they are stuck under the gum and do not emerge. Others may have them removed to prevent overcrowding or other problems.
