How to Remove Superglue on Skin
If it takes only nine drops of Super Glue to lift a pick-up truck, you can imagine how little of the sticky stuff it takes to glue your fingers together. Since Super Glue (and some of its similar products, i.e. Krazy Glue or Gorilla Glue) can bond to anything in as little as 30 seconds, the glue might attach to your skin before you realize what has happened. Don't panic. Just as kryptonite is stronger than Superman, acetone is (usually) stronger than Super Glue.Things You'll Need
- Water
- Soap
- Nail polish remover with acetone
Instructions
Separating Super Glue From Skin
Fill a sink or bathtub with warm water and soap. Keep the affected area submerged in the soapy water and continue to gently rub the area until the glue begins to peel. Utensils, such as a spoon, can be used to help peel the product off the skin. It can take a while to dissolve the glue, so don̵7;t be surprised if it does not come off immediately.
Rinse the area thoroughly. If the super glue is completely removed by soap and water, your mission is complete. There might be some skin irritation.
Use nail-polish remover with acetone if soap and water fail. Submerge the affected area in a bowl or container filled with the remover. Encourage the glue to dissolve by gently rubbing the affected area until the glue begins to peel off. A cotton swab or cotton ball can be used to douse the glue and skin if it isn't possible to submerge the affected area in nail polish remover.
Wash the formerly bonded skin with soap and water to remove the acetone.
