Ankle Sprains and Sleep: Risk & Prevention
It is very unlikely to sprain your ankle while sleeping. Sprains are injuries to the ligaments that connect bones in a joint. They are usually caused by a sudden, forceful movement that twists or bends the joint beyond its normal range of motion.
While it is possible to move your ankle in a way that could cause a sprain while you are asleep, it is unlikely to happen. This is because your muscles are relaxed when you are sleeping, and your joints are not as mobile as they are when you are awake.
