How to Change Pressure Respironics on a Virtuoso CPAP
According to the Mayo Clinic, sleep apnea is a common condition affecting men and women. Characterized by pauses or shallow breathing, sleep patterns are disturbed resulting in tiredness even after sleep. Constant positive airway pressure (CPAP) is an effective method of treatment that allows the user to enjoy a full night of sleep and awake refreshed. However, it takes time to become accustomed to the use of the equipment and although modern machines, such as the Virtuoso, are able to self-monitor and correct air pressure, additional, manual adjustment is sometimes required.
Instructions
Connect the Virtuoso unit to a power supply. The machine will perform a self-test. Check the display to ensure it first reads "Respironics" and then changes to "Blower."
Press the button under "Menu" to enter the setup program.
Select "Yes" when prompted to change settings.
Adjust the minimum ramp pressure. Your supplier will have already set this, if it is required, but you may increase it by pressing the button under "+1." When the appropriate pressure is displayed, press the "Yes" button.
Select either "Yes" or "No" to set the mask alert, then adjust the altitude setting, if necessary, by using the Yes and No buttons.
Select "No" when "Change settings" is displayed on the screen again, the machine is now ready for use. Assemble the air tube, mask and filters. Lay on the bed and press the "Pressure On/Off" button to commence treatment.
