Chin Straps for Sleep Apnea: A Comprehensive Guide
Lack of sleep not only results in fatigue, but will hamper your concentration and can even weaken your immune system. Many people suffering from sleep apnea will awaken several times a night because they can't breath as a result of a closed airway. Sleep apnea sufferers can use a chin strap to prevent the tongue from falling back into the airway, keep the mouth closed and jaw supported which helps to keep the airway unblocked. This device will also help to prevent snoring which can often result from small or blocked nostrils and weak neck muscles.
Instructions
Put the chin strap over your head and pull it down around your neck.
Position the chin strap securely underneath your chin.
Pull the back of the chin strap up around the crown of your head. The chin strap should now be wrapped around the chin and crown of your head like a rubber band.
Adjust the straps so they are tight and securely around your head. Not all chin straps have adjustable straps. Opening your mouth should now be a challenge.
