How to Help Windburn on Your Face
Cold, dry air blowing across the face robs the skin of natural oils. The skin irritation that results is commonly known as windburn. This affects anyone with exposed skin in cold, windy weather and also affects skiers, motorcyclists or others involved in high-speed activities even on calm days. Soothe windburn and protect skin from further damage by replacing skin's moisture.Things You'll Need
- Aloe-based moisturizer
- Petroleum jelly
- Scarf or face mask
Instructions
Apply an aloe-based moisturizer as soon as possible to all areas affected by windburn. Rub it in gently, not vigorously.
Spread a thin layer of petroleum jelly over the windburn before you go to bed at night. This will further moisturize the skin as you sleep.
Wash your face only with warm water and a mild soap until your skin heals. Before going outdoors, apply moisturizer, and cover your face with a scarf or a face mask to protect it from more damage.
