Facial Sunburn Recovery: How Long Does It Take to Heal?
The amount of time it will take for a sunburn to go away on your face will vary depending on the severity of the burn, your age, and your overall health. Typically, a sunburn will start to fade after a few days, and will be completely gone within 1-2 weeks. In some cases, however, a severe sunburn may last for up to 3 weeks.
If your face is sunburned, there are a few things you can do to help it heal and relieve pain. First, avoid further exposure to the sun. You can do this by staying indoors or wearing sunscreen with a high SPF if you must be outside. Second, keep the sunburned area clean and moist. You can do this by gently washing it with soap and water, and then applying a moisturizer or aloe vera gel. Third, take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, to help relieve pain and swelling.
If your sunburn is severe, or if it does not improve within a few days, you should see a doctor. They may prescribe medication or recommend other treatments to help your skin heal.
Here are some tips for preventing sunburn on your face:
* Wear sunscreen with a high SPF (at least 30) every day, even if it is cloudy.
* Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, or more often if you are swimming or sweating.
* Avoid sun exposure during the peak hours of 10am-4pm.
* Wear a hat and sunglasses to help protect your face from the sun.
* Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
